Spyology is the seventh book of the Ologies book series edited by Dugald Steer. It uses the overall theme of Spycraft, its history, and how it is used.
Spyology follows the missions of a spy for the MI6 agency named Spencer Blake throughout 1957.
The book follows his mission to uncover a secret organization, known as C.O.D.E.X., which plans to use Anthrax to threaten various countries, and is based in Scotland. He is assigned an American partner during his mission, who is later revealed to be a double agent. Spencer Blake found this out while he attempted to infiltrate a C.O.D.E.X. base in Cuba, and is greeted by his partner holding a gun. However it turns out that the double agent, is actually a triple agent, and helps Spencer escape. Spencer then races to Scotland before C.O.D.E.X. can use the Anthrax, and destroys all the canisters containing the substance in a large explosion. Spencer Blake is officially labeled KIA during the explosion. However, it is later revealed in hidden messages throughout the book that he was in fact not killed.
He also instructs readers on how to be a perfect spy.
The book also mentions a plot involving Mary, Queen of Scots to kill her sister Elizabeth I, and the mystery involving the disappearance of her Ruby, which is included on the cover of the book.
This book is very interesting and can keep you entertained for hours with its many pop ups and pull-outs.
